A fire call came in on Thursday, July 9 to Bernalillo County Fire Station 2. When they arrived at the fire scene on Bridge Blvd. and Gatewood Road in the South Valley, Station 2’s crew was unique. In what was a rare event, an all female crew were the first responders to the scene. Lt. Christine Jordan-Naus, firefighter Malachi Harston and firefighter Adriana Delgado had the fire under control by the time additional units arrived. “We just went into firefighter mode and we knocked down the fire before the guys showed up”, said Lt. Jordan-Naus. “There are 15 women in the Bernalillo County Fire Department and it’s nice to be able to work together like this.” All three were actually covering at Station 2 for co-workers making this all female crew possible.
