On March 16th the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners approved publication of draft changes to the Food Sanitation ordinance (County Code). The draft changes will once again be brought to the Commissioners for adoption on April 27th. The proposed changes to the County Code, if adopted after the public comment period, will repeal existing language and adopt the Food and Drug Administration Food Code of 2005 (Food Code). The Food Code provides practical, science-based guidance and manageable, enforceable provisions for mitigating risk factors known to cause foodborne illness.
