The first Bernalillo County Neighborhood
Notification Ordinance was developed in 1993. This ordinance established
the criteria for recognition of neighborhood associations and a legal obligation
for the County to notify the associations of all county projects under consideration
that would directly impact their neighborhoods. To further enhance the relationship
between the County and Neighborhood Associations, the position of Neighborhood
Coordinator was created.

13th generation New Mexican (yes, you read right—her family dates back to the 1600s in NM) Bernadette Miera has important goals in her new job as Bernalillo County Neighborhood Program Coordinator. And they all center on “creating better communication between residents and Bernalillo County.”
