Bernalillo County is distributing the July, 2009, Draft Bernalillo County / International Sunport Station Area Plan for public review. The Draft Plan presents a vision for the future of the area near the Rail Runner station and makes recommendations on vehicular and pedestrian circulation in the area, design features of new buildings, and land use guidelines. The Draft Plan also presents a new mixed use zoning category that will be available to property owners near the station. This zoning category can be requested by the property owners and will enable them to develop uses that will complement the area’s vision and the new rail service and station.
“We encourage strong, meaningful participation of public comments and recommendations on this draft proposal of the Bernalillo County/International Sunport Station area plan,” says District 2, County Commissioner Art De La Cruz. “The plan has raised the bar to promote a higher quality of life for area residents and businesses today and in the future by exercising sound planning and by administering and enforcing the County’s comprehensive development master plan, our zoning Code, and other development regulations.”
