The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center will host a Volunteer Appreciation Celebration to honor the 400 plus volunteers who donate their time and talent to the programs and inmates at the MDC.
The event will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009, from 12-3 pm. It will be held at the park next to the Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque- 4001 Osuna Rd. NE.
“These 400 dedicated community members make a tremendous, positive difference in the lives of those who are incarcerated at the MDC,” says Chief of Corrections Ron Torres. “Many of our intervention and treatment programs would not be operational or successful without volunteer assistance.”
Religious services, Mentoring, Narcotics/Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, NM AIDS Services and Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless are just a few of the programs the volunteers make possible.
